JOHAN VAN DE MERWE has a passion for food and his career in the culinary arts has been his driving force. From South Africa to Canada, his home in Ireland and now London, Johan is keen traveller, happy to work wherever he may be! He honed his skills in such famous kitchens as Michel Roux's Michelin-starred The Waterside Inn, The Ivy and then at Cafe Paradiso he developed his creativity to deliver an award-winning, outside-the-box eating experience in the under served vegetarian sector. Whether it is interpreting the visual identity of new-to-market brands, or injecting freshness into the approach to long-established products, his highly personable approach and calm under pressure demeanor leaves him comfortable working with the widest range of people. From high-profile ‘celebrity chefs’ to brand managers and production personnel, Johan encourages a cohesive team environment to achieve the common goal. He works on editorial, packaging, advertising, online video, commercials and has also worked on TV shows, such as Rachel Allen's series, Home Cooking.
